Grandmothers' Day Memories

Please send us your memories of cooking with your gran and we will post them here.

Ruby Dalrymple

Hello – I would like to share a food memory of my granny Ruby Dalrymple, piccie attached. My granny was an amazing women, she worked in Paris in the early 1900s, which was a pretty amazing thing in those days. I was very lucky that my grandmother lived with us, in a granny flat attached to our house, and every day when I was younger had had lots of traditions around food. During autumn time we would make apple fritters from the cooking apples in our orchard, and we made blackberry and apple jams too. We would make fresh chips and eggs, and eat them off the ironing board. For some reason this was such a treat.

Cooking with your grandchild/ren is such a special time for both involved, and is something that my mother does with my son often.
