| International Slow Food Grandmother’s Day will be celebrated on 21 April 2012. As you know grandparents are the guardians of inherited wisdom and forgotten skills so on this date Slow Food encourages grandparents all around the world to gather their grandchildren around them and show them how to bake a cake, sow a seed, catch a fish, knit or crochet.......
This year, as well as local convivia events, Slow Food Ireland will host a special event on 22 April at Sandbrook House, Ballon, Co Carlow from 11am to 6pm. This inaugural event is dedicated to remembering and recording lost skills, and the precious inherited wisdom of previous generations.
Day Pass - €15 - includes free entry to all children with one adult, free car parking; free entry to all workshops/demos on a first come, first served basis. Follow the link Sandbrook House to find out how to get there! There is limited accommodation available at Sandbrook House for those travelling from afar who want to make a weekend of this event, click on the link to find out more. They will also be able to put you in touch with other local accommodation providers. | mmm | An Edible Landscape For Grandmother's Day 2011, Slow Food Ireland invited convivia to celebrate by organising an event where Grandparents will Plant an Apple or Fruit Tree with their grandchildren - the start of an edible landscape that will continue to grow and provide fruit for future generations. |
